Autonomy is earned — how approval states make AI useful
The useful question is not how autonomous a system can be, but what it has earned the right to do unsupervised.
Full autonomy is the wrong default for work that carries obligation.
A system that prepares a report and stops is immediately useful. A system that sends the report to a regulator unsupervised is a liability until it has earned otherwise. The gap between those two is not model capability — it is governance.
Morpheus treats autonomy as a dial with named positions: prepare, recommend, approve-then-act. Work moves along that dial deliberately, per workflow, when the evidence supports it — never as an on-switch.
